ARTS & CULTURE

HELMUT NEWTON FOUNDATION

Named after the prolific Berlin-born photographer, this photography gallery hosts work by the world’s greatest photographers, both past and present. The foundation was established by Newton himself for the promotion, preservation and presentation of his and his wife’s work. It’s close Max Brown Ku’Damm, so it’s a nice post-breakfast spot.

HAMBURGER BAHNHOF

If you’re a sucker for old buildings with a modern twist, Hamburger Bahnhof is a must-see. This former railway station, built in 1946 by Freudrich Neuhaus, now houses modern art from the ‘60s to present day.

DDR MUSEUM

Finally, a museum that encourages you to touch everything! But it’s for an important history lesson. Step into history at this interactive museum and feel what life was like in former East Berlin under the Stasi’s hawk eyes. You’ll leave with a better understanding of the city’s not-so-distant past.

LON-MEN’S NOODLE HOUSE

Looking for some no-nonsense, cheap and delicious food? Go to Lon-Men’s. This Taiwanese noodle house is a local favorite, and you can’t go wrong here. It’s also close to Max Brown Ku’Damm, so after you eat, you can just roll back to your room.

PICNIC ON TEMPELHOFER FELD

This isn’t just any field. It used to be an airport! Now people gather here to relax and picnic. The great atmosphere will keep you there until the sun sets. Truly basic at its best.

THAI PARK

We cannot fully express our love for this market. It originated over 20 years ago when Berlin’s Thai community would come together in the tiny Preußenpark on the weekends to enjoy Thai cuisine and celebrate their culture. Today it’s an extremely popular weekend food market where you can find a delicious, authentic Thai meal for cheap.

BENEDICT

Ever feel like having breakfast for dinner? Us, too. At Benedict the door is always open for breakfast, and by always, we mean always. The restaurant serves pancakes, omelettes, french toast and everything else you can dream of 24/7. And even better, it’s attached to Max Brown.

brammibal-donuts-max-brown-berlin-city-guide
BRAMMIBAL’S DONUTS

For breakfast? Donuts that happen to be vegan. If you’re a sweet tooth and don’t mind the occasional sugar bomb in the morning, Brammibal’s will rock your world. They have two locations in Berlin, which doubles your chance on being close to one.

LIQUIDROM

Imagine yourself floating peacefully in salty water with nothing on your mind except… the underwater techno-music playing. If you’re up for a sneak peek into the future of spas, this former WWII train station will take you there. Make sure to check the schedule to see which DJ is playing.
