Leila’s Milan Insider Tips
Milan isn’t your typical Italian fantasy – and that’s what makes it special. Classic architecture meets bold modernism, and your cappuccino might come from a 200-year-old pasticceria or a natural wine bar with a vinyl playlist. The contrast? It’s everywhere, especially in the food.
Let’s start local. Just around the corner from Max Brown Missori, head to Pasticceria Cucchi – a true Milanese gem. Technically it’s for sweets, but Leila always goes for a cappuccino or aperitivo. For coffee, stop by the new Piccolo Pan. Craving wine? Minerale has a killer selection. More into music? Try Futura Listening Bar. Want a peaceful escape? E/N Enoteca Naturale is your secret garden.
Over in the east, explore the elegant Villa Necchi Campiglio, then Galleria Massimo De Carlo for a hit of modern art. For daytime eats, go to PAN – matcha, pastries, wines, all solid. Love a classic? Pasticceria Sissi is pink, vibey, and has a dreamy courtyard. Leila’s forever favourite? Osteria alla Concorrenza. No tables? Ultramarino and Palinurobar are great backups with retro charm.
Still thirsty? Head to Bar Paradiso, Bar Nico (in a former pasta factory), or Silvano Vini. Need a breather? Indro Montanelli gardens never disappoint.
Go north for more gems. Start with coffee at Marchesi’s original 1824 location, then pass by Solferino and Radetzky for a perfect vibe check. Atypique has the best wine glasses in town, no contest. 10 Corso Como is back on form. And for something new, Section80 – where oat milk is finally a thing. Further up: MOGO, fresh and fun for day or night.
Before you go, don’t skip Fondazione Prada. Coffee at Bar Luce, then ride up to the rotating mushrooms on the 9th floor. It’s always worth it.
Leila’s take? Milan is a city of contradictions – sharp edges, soft corners, and all the more lovable because of it.
Enjoy the city!
