OUR FAVOURITE FESTIVE MARKETS
Let us guide you through our favourite Christmas and Festive markets, which are taking place from the beginning of December till mid of January, in all our Max Brown cities. Visit these markets for delicious food, handcrafted gifts, art exhibitions, and winter activities. The only thing you need to do is follow the tips and enjoy the last few days of the year in good company.
BERLIN MARKETS
Weihnachtsmarkt am Gendarmenmarkt (Ends 31 Dec)
The Christmas market “Weihnachtszauber” on Gendarmenmarkt is known for its festive flair and not only a lot of cute, handcrafted gadgets to buy, but also mouth-watering food stands, that will round up your pre and after-Christmas mood. Try the roasted almonds, they are beyond. And what makes the visit even better is part of the entry fee is always donated to a local Berlin charity.
Weihnachtsmarkt am Schloss Charlottenburg (Ends 26 Dec)
Located close to Max Brown Ku’Damm in the heart of Charlottenburg, this Christmas market is famous for the about 250 vendors selling nostalgic Christmas crafts such as nativity figures and tree decorations, as well as illuminations. Enjoy the atmosphere while it lasts, as 2022 might be the last year this one takes place.
Weihnachtsmarkt an der Gedächtniskirche (Ends 1 Jan)
Imagine over 60 stalls from all over the world in a bright and festive square right in the heart of Berlin. If you picture the Christmas market at Gedächtniskirche then you’ll find everything your heart desires – from gingerbread to chocolate fruits, chips and mulled wine to colorful decorations for your Christmas tree.
DÜSSELDORF MARKETS
Craftsmen Market at Marktplatz (Ends 30 Dec)
One of the hippest and most beautiful Christmas markets is located right in front of the historic Düsseldorf Town Hall. Ride the 100-year-old carousel, get some white mulled wine and try a crispy tarte flambee.
KÖ on ICE (Ends 15 Jan)
The Christmas market on Corneliusplatz at Hofgarten is one of the city’s highlights. Put your skating shoes on and gather with your loved ones for some ice skating or curling on the gorgeous “KÖ on Ice” rink – and in your break enjoy tasty bites from local food stands along the rink.
Altstadt-Markt (Ends 22 Dec)
In the heart of the Altstadt (Old Town) with Marktstraße and Flinger Straße – a festive link between the Handwerker (Artisan) Market and the Engelchen (Little Angels) Market, it’s just a 15 min. walk to the Old Town Market, where huts at the Altstadt Market are modelled on Düsseldorf’s old burgher houses.
AMSTERDAM MARKETS
Ice*Village (Ends 26 Dec)
Museum Square turns into Ice*Village, a winter wonderland with an ice-skating rink and surrounding market. Browse the stalls, play a game of human bowling on the rink and get poffers from the Pofferdikkie food truck.
Winter Village in Stadshart Amstelveen (Ends 8 Jan)
In Amstelveen, just south of Amsterdam, there is a Christmas market worth travelling for. The city centre of Amstelveen transforms into a Winter Village, where children play on the ice, parents browse more than 60 market stalls for handcrafted gifts, and family and friends gather to celebrate this time of year.
Amsterdam Winterparadijs (Ends 30 Dec)
TThe RAi conference venue transforms into a giant Christmas market with everything you need for the season: ice skating, snow tubing, cross-country skiing, snowball fighting, a Ferris Wheel and countless food and craft stalls.
VIENNA MARKETS
Art Advent Karlsplatz (Ends 23 Dec)
The historical Karlsplatz, located in the heart of the city center, is transformed into an outdoor art exhibition. Think hand-crafted textiles, photographs, ceramics, jewelry, and even natural cosmetics can be found here. Just the perfect spot for personal gifts and locally produced souvenirs.
The Christmas Village & New Year’s Market (Ends 26 Dec)
If you want to extend the festive season feeling a bit, you should visit the festive market at “ZwiDeMu” (English: Between the museums), which is located at Maria-Theresien-Platz. Gather with your loved ones and enjoy the stunning scenery of Vienna’s Natural History and the Art History Museum, while playing some curling and listening to live music.
Culture & Christmasmarket Schönbrunn (Ends 4 Jan)
Visit the lovely Christmas market filled with handmade gifts near the stunning Schönbrunn Palace. Walk up to Gloriette for an amazing view above the city along with a freshly made punch and traditional “Krapfen” in your hands.
